Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer filed a defamation lawsuit Thursday against the owner of Deadspin, claiming that the sports news website had published false information in its coverage of assault allegations made against him last year.

The complaint, filed in Manhattan federal court, alleged that Deadspin “capitalized on a false accusation” that Bauer had fractured the skull of a woman who later sought a restraining order against the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner in California.
