Even if the New York Stock Exchange never makes good on its occasional threats to move to New Jersey, a related export—securities class action cases—already are making their way across the Hudson River in increasing numbers.

Securities plaintiffs have filed nearly 100 class actions in the federal District of New Jersey over the past three years. According to recent data reported by ISS Securities Class Action Services, New Jersey was the second-highest venue for securities class action settlements in 2021, behind only the mother court for securities claims, the Southern District of New York.
