The proper venue of an action can be a monumental issue in litigation. Most actions settle, and an important factor that drives any settlement amount is the potential jury award in the county in which the action is venued. From a review of the cases, it appears that the Bronx is still the most sought-after county for plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death actions. Jurors in the Bronx often appear to deliberate under a condition known in some circles as "jurorus extravagantus," and render some of the most generous verdicts in the State.
