Count Two of the government’s superseding indictment, related to the kidnapping of minors John and Jane Doe, charged defendant Mayer Rosner with conspiring for his son Jacob to travel in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with Jane Doe in violation of 18 USC §2423(b) and (e).

Rosner is a leader of the Lev Tahor, an extremist Jewish sect that operates a compound in Guatemala. Prosecutors say he and fellow sect leader Nachman Helbrans hatched a plan to kidnap John and Jane Doe in 2018 from their mother’s home in upstate New York.
