Taking their calls directly to President Joseph Biden, while at times also criticizing him and the U.S. Justice Department, more than 100 environmental, human rights and legal groups on Tuesday implored Biden to pardon criminally convicted ex-lawyer Steven Donziger.

Last July, Donziger, who in 2011 helped win an $8.6 billion oil-pollution judgment in Ecuador against Chevron, was found guilty of six criminal contempt-of-court counts that sprung from a fraud-based civil case Chevron launched in Manhattan against Donziger after it lost the Ecuadorian judgment.
