Advocates for criminal justice reform in New York condemned Gov. Kathy Hochul’s “Public Safety Plan” after it became public Thursday, arguing that it would increase incarceration rates without improving safety.

The 10 proposals from Hochul, which were first reported by the New York Post and then published in full by Gothamist, could potentially roll back core pieces of New York’s recent criminal justice legislation, including bail reform and the Raise the Age statute.
