The long and audacious career of Mark Jay Heller, known for decades as the outspoken lawyer to celebrities ranging from serial killer David Berkowitz to Lindsay Lohan to, more recently, Cuba Gooding Jr., has come to an end.

The Appellate Division, First Department court has accepted Heller’s resignation from the bar after he acknowledged committing acts of professional misconduct that were the basis of an attorney grievance committee investigation of him in four separate client matters.
