Changes to the discovery process as part of state bail reform have positively impacted defense lawyers’ ability to provide competent representation, and have brought fairness to the criminal justice system, say the vast majority of respondents of a survey of more than 500 lawyers released Wednesday.

The Chief Defenders Association of New York, the New York State Defenders Association, the New York Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services conducted a 39-page study on the impact of discovery reforms.
