The New York State Bar Association is set to hold a diversity symposium Friday in Manhattan featuring a panel discussion on the U.S. Supreme Court’s so-called “Insular Cases,” including expected discussion of a pending Supreme Court case looking at whether the United States is violating the equal protection clause by not extending welfare benefits to the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.

The three-and-a-half-hour event, which “celebrates diversity in the legal profession,” according to a bar association news release, also will include an awards ceremony and in-person-only diversity reception. It will be held at the Midtown Hilton Hotel.
