A Manhattan federal judge has drastically diminished Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher’s “staggering” request for nearly $873,000 in attorney fees for successfully defending comic Jerry Seinfeld in a copyright suit over the hit series “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.”

The decision, published March 25 by U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan of the Southern District of New York, awarded Seinfeld’s Gibson Dunn attorneys a total of approximately $29,000, a small fraction of what they had sought for the case.
