In what is believed to be the first verdict handed up in a suit brought under New York’s Child Victims Act (CVA), an Erie County jury awarded $25 million to a 62-year-old man who says his Boy Scout leader sexually abused him when he was a child. 

The case, filed on behalf of a plaintiff identified in court papers as “LG 40 Doe” against former scoutmaster Robert Eberhardt of Wyoming County, is also thought to be the first CVA suit to go before a jury, said Amy Keller, an attorney for Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria who represents the plaintiff.
