Upset that their first raises in nearly two decades were removed from the governor's final budget, assigned counsel for New York's indigent are refusing to accept new cases during a three-day span from Monday to Wednesday.
"Unfortunately, it's a short-term boycott to help people who need us most," said New York City attorney Philip Katz, adding, "The state hasn't done what it needs to do."
