A Brooklyn Surrogate’s Court judge who has been barred from handling cases and setting foot into her chambers amid a probe into bias allegations against her filed suit late last week to challenge what she says is an “illegal suspension” from the bench. 

Surrogate’s Judge Harriet Thompson filed an Article 78 petition in Brooklyn Supreme Court seeking an order for the Office of Court Administration (OCA) to fully reinstate her to the bench, as well as a discrimination complaint with the state Court of Claims alleging that court officials subjected her to disparate treatment because she is Black and female.
