Pushing back against the U.S. Supreme Court Dobbs ruling that struck down the precedent in Roe v. Wade, New York lawmakers agreed in concept to guarantee access to abortion with its intent to pass what they are calling the "Equality Amendment," Gov. Kathy Hochul said during a news conference Friday.

The amendment, an anti-discrimination law that would enshrine the constitutional right to abortion after SCOTUS last week overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade opinion, was championed by Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan.
