The New York state government has provided upward of $34.5 million to counties outside of New York City to deal with the costs associated with discovery reforms enacted in 2020, while eight counties have yet to pursue the first round of funding, leaving a combined $4.18 million on the table thus far.

The January 2020 reform measure requires district attorneys to share evidence with the defense on an accelerated timeline, placing greater demands on prosecutors.
