A veteran securities lawyer has been suspended from practicing law in New York in a reciprocal discipline decision that followed New Jersey’s multiple suspensions of the attorney, including for representing clients in state and federal court while suspended and then telling ethics authorities in New Jersey that in the federal court action she was only present to provide “moral support.”

Laura M. Rys, who it appears has mostly practiced in New Jersey during a 25-year legal career but who also lists a Manhattan office, according to a website, has been suspended for a year and a half in New York state by the Appellate Division, First Department court based in Manhattan, according to its decision.
