A state appeals court on Tuesday dismissed a $2 million malpractice lawsuit against a New York-area attorney, ruling that the rare coin collector who lodged the suit failed to show that "but for" the lawyer's alleged negligence, he would have prevailed in his underlying coin-auction case, despite that case surviving dismissal.
