The American Bar Association has new leadership in Deborah Enix-Ross, a New York-based Debevoise & Plimpton attorney who was sworn in as president of the ABA at the association's 2022 annual meeting on Tuesday.

Enix-Ross will serve as president of the world's largest voluntary association of legal professionals until August 2023, when president-elect Mary L. Smith, former CEO of the U.S. Indian Health Service, will assume the role. After her swearing-in by retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer, Enix-Ross said she will focus on "civics, civility and collaboration" during her term.
