Town Justice Agrees to Censure; Admits Invoking Judicial Office on Wife's Behalf
According to the commission, a Town Justice who is a non-lawyer acknowledged that it was improper for him to have advocated for his wife in court as if he were an attorney, and to have disparaged a prospective tenant in a lawsuit.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct has censured a longtime Greene County town justice who boasted about his judicial status and masqueraded as an attorney during his wife's defense of a small claims case involving a rental home they co-own.
The determination against Durham Town Court Justice Raymond J. Kennedy, dated Aug. 24, was made public by the commission on Wednesday, upon completion of statutory notice requirements.
Efforts to reach Kennedy on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
