U.S. District Judge Brian Cogan of the Eastern District of New York on Monday denied a motion for severance from former Trump inaugural committee chairman Thomas Barrack’s onetime assistant and co-defendant Matthew Grimes, finding that there is no “significant risk of jury confusion” regarding each of the men and their alleged acts.

Jury selection in the case, which involves allegations that both men acted as agents of the United Arab Emirates without notifying the attorney general during former President Donald Trump’s term in office, is set to begin Sept. 19.
