Practice Profile: Andrew C. Elken is a partner in Cravath’s corporate department. His practice primarily focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and activist defense. Since the beginning of last year, he has led buyside, sellside, spin-off and cross-border M&A transactions across a variety of industries, including representing Amazon in its $8.45 billion acquisition of MGM Studios; CyrusOne in its $15 billion sale; Rogers in its pending C$26 billion acquisition of Shaw; Centrica in the $3.625 billion sale of Direct Energy; GasLog in its $4.9 billion take-private transaction with BlackRock; DTE Energy in its $7 billion spin-off of DT Midstream; the Daily Mail in the £1.425 billion sale of RMS to Moody’s; and Deutsche Telekom in several transactions with SoftBank and T-Mobile involving more than $25 billion.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: Andrew devotes significant time to pro bono matters. Most recently, he worked with Cravath associates to incorporate and obtain 501(c)(3) non-profit status for Oficina Design, an architectural firm with a mission to create sustainable living spaces for people in underserved communities. He shares his M&A expertise through panel discussions and trainings as part of the continuing legal education of junior attorneys.
