Practice Profile: Russell Franklin represents global private and publicly held companies in connection with structuring, and effecting, complex strategic transactions, including structuring and negotiating M&As, minority investments, and joint venture transactions for strategic and financial clients including private equity firms. He advises on general stock and asset transactions, and purchases and sales resulting from bankruptcy and out-of-court restructurings. Russell serves on the firm’s SPAC Task Force and counsels clients contemplating SPAC and de-SPAC transactions.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: Within Morgan Lewis, Russell serves on the SPAC Task Force; is a leader for the Mobilizing for Equality (MFE) initiative; and is a member of the Corporate Practice D&I Subcommittee and the New York City Recruiting Committee. He also is responsible for the firm’s recruitment of students from Harvard Law School. Externally, Russell is a member of the Board of Directors and co-chair of the Sponsorship Committee for the Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program and serves on the Executive Board, Cornell Black Lawyers Alumni Network and on the faculty of the Black BigLaw Pipeline.
