The New York City Law Department has bolstered its ranks with 68 new attorneys who are coming to the office from 28 different law schools, adding what the department says is one of the most diverse classes to an agency of more than 800 attorneys handling about 80,000 cases each year.

“Public service is a noble calling. I commend our new attorneys for wanting to do the peoples’ work in one of the finest public law offices in the nation,” New York City Corporation Counsel Sylvia Hinds-Radix said in a news release. “This new class will work alongside the dedicated professionals of the Law Department on some of the city’s most pressing matters to protect the interests of New Yorkers. These new assistant corporation counsels are committed to upholding the cherished values of our office, which include excellence and integrity.”
