On Monday, lawyers for two Trump Organization companies on trial for tax fraud portrayed former chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg, the government’s star witness, as someone who was overcome with “greed” but who is nonetheless still part of the corporate “family.”

Weisselberg was a centerpiece for opening arguments by prosecutors from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and the defense attorney for the Trump Corp. and the Trump Payroll Corp., which are part of the collection of the hundreds of entities that make up former President Donald Trump’s real estate empire.
