Boosted with a $200,000 award given to innovators who endeavor to improve the lives of New Yorkers, a family law attorney’s fledgling nonprofit will bring on legal talent to serve in its mission to wield affirmative litigation against government agencies on behalf of families.
David Shalleck-Klein, a former attorney for The Bronx Defenders and founder of the nonprofit Family Justice Law Center, is one of five recipients of this year’s David Prize, a program named for billionaire real estate developer David Walentas that provides no-strings-attached monetary awards to individuals who have ideas for “creating a better, brighter New York City,” according to a news release from the law center.
