The New York City Department of Correction should be held in contempt for failing to ensure inmates receive access to medical care, according to a motion filed by The Legal Aid Society and others on Monday.
The contempt motion seeks $3 million in fines—$250 per medical appointment missed by incarcerated individuals due to DOC failures between February and October of this year.
