Alex Mashinsky, founder of the now-bankrupt Celsius Network, made false and misleading statements about the cryptocurrency lending platform’s safety, which led to defrauding thousands of investors out of billions of dollars in digital funds, New York Attorney General Letitia James alleged in a lawsuit filed in a state trial court in Manhattan on Thursday.

Celsius was once among the largest lenders of digital assets. It was forced into bankruptcy in July, facing more than 100,000 creditors.
