Richard Donoghue, a former acting U.S. deputy attorney general, will be honored by the New York State Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section for refusing to "press false claims of federal election fraud" after members of the Trump administration claimed the 2020 election had been "stolen."

Donoghue, who will receive the Outstanding Prosecutor Award, was acting U.S. deputy attorney general for the Department of Justice from December 2020 to January 2021. He later testified to a U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection over claims of a "stolen" presidency, that he threatened to resign if then-President Donald Trump ousted Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen based on Rosen's refusal to overturn election results.
