U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan on Friday denied former President Donald Trump’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against him under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allows survivors of sexual assault to bring older claims that would otherwise be time-barred.

The writer E. Jean Carroll, who has accused Trump of raping her in a New York City department store in the 1990s, sued the former president for battery and defamation in November.
