Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is entitled to have his legal fees paid out of state coffers in a federal sexual harassment claim brought by a state trooper against him in 2021, New York City trial judge Schlomo Hagler has determined in a bench ruling.

Cuomo’s attorneys, citing the Public Officers Law and state Executive Law, sued Attorney General Letitia James in August, saying she was obligated to prosecute and defend all actions in which the state is interested.
