The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office concluded a rare occurrence recently—its first dual jury trial in some 20 years.

The case, a felony murder trial before Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Michele Rodney, led to convictions of Samuel Whatts and Ana Velazquez. Whatts and Velazquez were convicted in December on charges relating to the death of 72-year old Philip Erby during a 2016 robbery of his East Harlem apartment. They were sentenced earlier this month.
