The New York Unified Court System, which was forced into virtual hearings by the global pandemic, can’t be like a rubber band and snap back to how things were done prior to March 2020, a report released on Wednesday suggests.

Instead, New York courts have to build on its uses of technology, according to the Commission to Reimagine the Future of New York’s Courts’ Pandemic Practices Working Group, which calls for, among other things, expansion of remote proceedings, enhancement of the court system’s technological capacity and an increase in court staffing.
