New York lawmakers are looking to follow Utah's course by proposing to drop the drunk-driving standard to a blood-alcohol concentration of .05.

However, a pair of defense attorneys in the Empire State say it's too low, and stands to ensnare motorists not likely to fail field sobriety tests.

State Sen. John Liu, D-Queens, is proposing S776, while Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon, D-Brooklyn, a disability civil rights attorney, proposed A1627, its version in the lower house.
