New York’s Democratic-controlled Senate is proposing to modify a portion of the state court system’s proposed $3.4 billion budget for fiscal 2024 by designating $19 million to keep a limited number of backlogged family courts in New York City open until midnight under a two-year pilot program.

The adjustment was included in the Senate’s one-house budget released this week.
