With the indictment against Donald Trump now unsealed, there have been two principal legal objections raised to the indictment by lawyers and others.

First, the objection is made that while the district attorney has elevated the misdemeanor falsifying business records in the second degree (P.L. §175.05) into a felony first-degree offense (P.L. §175.10) by alleging the defendant falsified business records with the “intent to commit another crime,” the indictment does not identify what that other crime is.
