A Manhattan bar group on Wednesday, along with a good-government advocacy organization, struck back against early indications that New York Senate Democrats will work on a plan to remove the bipartisan state Commission on Judicial Nomination from vetting applicants to the Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
"We strongly support the continuation of the present system of merit selection," the New York County Lawyers Association said in a statement.
