U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Monday denied former President Donald Trump’s counsel Joe Tacopina’s motion for a mistrial in the civil battery and defamation trial of the former president, opting not to elaborate on his reasons for the denial from the bench.

Tacopina, a partner at Tacopina Seigel & DeOreo, moved for the mistrial early Monday morning, hours before he was set to resume cross-examination of plaintiff E. Jean Carroll after nearly a full day of cross-examination Thursday.
