Newly filed court papers provide more insight into the state and federal laws underlying the felony indictment against former President Donald Trump.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office last month unsealed the indictment, charging Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Under New York State Law, falsifying business records is a misdemeanor unless the act was committed with the intent to conceal another crime.
