The Democratic-led New York Senate confirmed all 19 judicial candidates put forth by Gov. Kathy Hochul at the tail end of the recently concluded legislative session, including one who was said to be the country's first openly transgender male judge in Seth Marnin, who will serve on the Court of Claims in Manhattan.

In all, the Senate confirmed 11 new Court of Claims judges, another four Court of Claims judges who were reappointments, three acting justices of the state Supreme Court, New York's trial court, and a family court judge in Monroe County.
