The smuggling of undocumented persons through northern New York continues to be a big concern, among many others, for U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman.

Speaking from her Albany office Monday about her first two years in office, Freedman, whose jurisdiction covers 32 counties, more than half of New York’s 62 counties, explained that Canada’s electronic travel authorization that allows citizens of visa waiver countries such as  Mexico to apply online for permission to visit Canada has partly triggered a big spike in immigration concerns.
