New York cannabis regulators will start accepting applications to open pot dispensaries from service-disabled veterans in October, according to a recent exhibit the state filed in defense of a lawsuit seeking to put a halt to the Empire State’s thus far limited licensing program.

To date, the state has been accepting applications solely from people associated with past marijuana convictions, and it’s opened 21 stores, while awarding more than 450 conditional licenses.
