NY Appeals Court to Mandate in-Person Appearances for Emergency Relief Requests
The announcement indicates that there may be case-by-case exceptions, but whether and to what extent they will be made remains unknown at this time.

An intermediate appellate court that hears cases for 10 downstate New York counties will resume requiring in-person appearances on orders to show cause requesting emergency relief as of Oct. 23.
Emergency relief includes requests for a temporary stay pending disposition of a motion.
Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for New York courts, said in an emailed statement Monday that the Appellate Division, Second Department's announcement shows that the division is "effectively going back to the future."
