U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan of the Southern District of New York on Thursday issued an order from the bench denying FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried’s motion for release during his trial, which is set to begin Tuesday.

Bankman-Fried’s attorney, Mark S. Cohen of Cohen & Gresser, argued that his client needs more access to technology and to his attorneys than he currently has in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. He proposed that Bankman-Fried live with a private security guard in a temporary residence in New York City for the duration of the trial, without visitors or any access to electronic devices.
