Mindy Jeng has been appointed special counsel to New York Office of Court Administration Executive Director Justin Barry, part of an office restructuring, the court system announced Thursday.
Jeng, who had been serving in various capacities in both OCA's executive and counsel offices, will act as a deputy to Barry, assisting him with oversight of the management and divisions of OCA.
Chief Administrative Judge Joseph A. Zayas and First Deputy Chief Administrative Judge Norman St. George announced the appointment in a joint statement.
"Mindy Jeng is a skilled attorney with broad-based experience within OCA who, over the course of her tenure, has provided critical analysis in a range of areas relating to court system policies, procedures and standards, spearheading multiple initiatives on behalf of OCA's Executive and Counsel's offices," Zayas said in a statement. "Her legal expertise and institutional knowledge, combined with her excellent skills and strong work ethic, make her an ideal fit for this important assignment. I am eager to work with Mindy in her new capacity."
"I am thankful and humbled to be selected as Special Counsel to Executive Director Barry," Jeng said in the statement. "I look forward to working with the court leadership team and am eager to collaborate with our entire court family to improve the effective operation of our courts and the administration of justice."
Jeng had been serving as administrative counsel in OCA's Executive Office since 2021, a role that had her address court facilities-related issues, prepare reports on law- and court-related topics, and oversee contracts.
Additionally, she served in Counsel's Office as executive director of the Pro Bono Scholars Program since 2016.
Previously, Jeng worked as special projects counsel to retired Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman and, before that, served at the New York Court of Appeals as a law clerk to Lippman.
A graduate of Stanford Law School, Jeng began her legal career as an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City.
