The passing rate for the July administration of the New York bar exam held steady from last year for test takers from American Bar Association accredited schools and for all groups of candidates overall—at 85% and 66%, respectively.

Meanwhile, repeat test takers and foreign-educated law graduates, which together account for 54% of all candidates, found slightly more success on this year’s exam compared with candidates from those same categories who sat for the July 2022 administration, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the New York State Board of Bar Examiners.
