In the wake of Shearman & Sterling’s imminent merger with Allen & Overy, Michael Saarinen has departed to join Lowenstein Sandler’s New York office as co-chair of the firm’s fund formation and structuring group.

Saarinen will be co-chairing the department with partners Ted Randolph and Edward Nadel, and is the latest big name to depart from Shearman in the months prior to its merger with Allen & Overy. Most recently, London partner Garreth Wong and the Shearman’s corporate department in Paris left the firm for Paul Hastings and Proskauer Rose.
