Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton “Phil” Fox on Thursday urged the District of Columbia Bar’s Board on Professional Responsibility to disbar Rudy Giuliani, saying anything short of disbarment would be “virtually meaningless.”

The comment came during oral arguments over whether the Board should remove the former New York City Mayor and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District from the D.C. rolls. A D.C. bar ethics panel previously determined that Giuliani violated Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct when he filed a lawsuit in the state seeking to disqualify millions of votes in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election. They recommended he be disbarred.
