Legislation aimed at bolstering protections against deed theft in New York has been signed into law.
The bill, which goes into effect in 30 days, was said to provide prosecutors needed tools to assist in restoring title to rightful homeowners in distress, while preventing scammers from using courts to their advantage to carry out the fraud.
