With the lookback window for claims filed under the Adult Survivors Act set to close next week, a review of the data by the New York Law Journal shows carceral facilities were the most commonly sued defendant.

Of the 1,118 actions filed as of Thursday in Supreme Court counties across the state, some 480 of those lawsuits were against the New York City Department of Correction in Bronx County Supreme Court, according to data provided by the New York State Unified Court System.
