U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland addressed the return of hostages by Hamas, the shooting of three Palestinian students in Vermont and the fentanyl crisis in brief remarks before a meeting with law enforcement officials at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York on Monday.

“While these kinds of meetings between the justice department and our law enforcement partners are always important, the current global threat environment makes this one particularly urgent,” Garland said.
